The certified nurse aide program offered via Windward community college has been a wonderful experience and is definitely a lifetime experience that I will never forget.  I was a part of Session 7 and my class started with a group of strangers and ended with life long friends. The knowledge and confidence that I have gained is a direct reflection of the program and the instruction that is provided.  This non-credit course has taught me things and given me experiences that no credit course could ever. This concept is hard to explain and you will just have to experience it for yourself.  Only those that have taken the course will understand what I am talking about. What I have learned is vital and has paved the path to me fulfilling my dreams towards becoming a registered nurse. Trust me, after successfully completing the program will you come to realize that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and strive for excellence.

I relocated residence to Oahu in February ’08 because one of my four children is medically fragile and began the WCC CNA program shortly after.  I am so proud of my CNA certificate from WCC that I framed it… but only a CNA that comes from this program can say, “YES, I did!”

The program gave me so much support and now I am learning to live a better life; it’s like I am starting over in a better place.  I am so grateful for the program because my family and I now have an Ohana, here in Oahu.  Surrounded, by people who care about my success, my keikis, and my well being will keep my endurance going. “I am going to make this work and become a college educated mother as a Native Hawaiian, I have too.

The CNA program has been a blessing in my life. The program has confirmed that I am destined to make a difference in other peoples lives. This program has taught me discipline, values, responsibility, and skills that I may never have learned if it weren't for this program. The amount of knowledge you learn and the bond that you share with the students, faculty, staff, and kupuna is remarkable. This program has paved my journey to becoming successful.

The Windward Community College CNA training program has truly blessed me in numerous ways.  Not only has it helped me with my education journey to nursing, but also helped me to get in touch with my native roots.  I would not be where i am today if it were not for this program.

Being a non-traditional student pursing a career change, the CNA program is intelligently filled with Western and Hawaiian teachings in healthcare to enhance personal and professional knowledge. It is the beginning of a pathway leading to a lifelong journey in this field as well as superb guidance toward advancement into other areas of the medical profession.
